– Karen SalmansohnI am sure it is obvious, but having a positive attitude, like in the quotes above, is a key to positivity.Or maybe it is better to say that positivity is a result of a positive attitude. When you go with the flow and treat things with only the concern they are due, it is far easier to keep that positive attitude. What else can you do to keep a positive attitude?Gratitude. It may seem weird but being grateful for the things that others have done for you, and letting them know about it, has been shown to have a huge impact on positivity, happiness and general well being. One of the best ways to express this gratitude is by writing a daily journal or even better writing in a purpose built gratitude journal.Face your Fears. We all have things that we are scared of. I am not just talking about, “monsters under the bed”. But scary “real world” fears, like speaking in public. Letting these fear get the better of you leads to stress, anxiety, depression and more negativity. Face your fears, and positivity flows.Exercise. Exercise is well known to release “happy” hormones. Simply exercise every single day, even if it just a bit of healthy walking, and you will feel more capable and positive.Want to more about what it takes to be positive. Check out the article linked below that goes into detail on what it takes to make positivity a permanent part of your life.16 Quotes on Positivity in the Workplace“Learning is a gift. Even when pain is your teacher.”
I would say laughter is the best medicine. But it’s more than that. It’s an entire regime of antibiotics and steroids. Laughter brings the swelling down on our national psyche, and then applies an antibiotic cream. You gotta keep it away from your eyes… Obviously, it’s a challenge to make light of the darkness but, um, it’s better than crying about it. Stephen Colbert
Actually, I love Yip Man’s quote (is it just me or does “Yip Man” sound like a name for a bizarre kind of superhero?). We tend to eat and drink, taking the sustenance for granted. Half the time, we are not even fully aware that we are eating or drinking, absorbed in the TV instead. Yip Man is saying “This is important. Pay attention. The water does not have to be here yet here it is.” He is making us aware in order to fully experience drinking.
Every person is in charge of their own mood. Just think about it. When you want to experience a little bit of sadness, what do you do? Right, you watch some kind of drama movies or listen to sad songs about love. When it comes to a desire of feeling better and more positive, the script is pretty much the same – you need to pay attention to some uplifting things that surround you. The power of words is huge. Read a few nice positive quotes below and cheer yourself up.
“They had battled and bloodied one another, they had kept secrets, broken hearts, lied, betrayed, exiled, they had walked away, said goodbye and sworn it was forever, and somehow, every time, they had mended, they had forgiven, they had survived. Some mistakes could never be fixed - some, but not all. Some people can't be driven away, no matter how hard you try. Some friendships won't break.”
“Even though Graham and I went back to arguing and stealing socks and hiding each other's toothbrushes in the litter box, I didn't forget that Graham didn't think I needed a best friend, because either it meant he thought I was cool enough to handle everything alone or—and this was what I hoped—it meant that he was my best friend, quietly, forever, no matter what.
It’s easy to forget what an amazing gift life really is. Our lives are nothing but a cosmic blink. Even our seemingly all-encompassing world is just tiny blue dot circling an average sized star spiraling around a galaxy of 200-400 billion stars, which itself is just one galaxy among billions more. Yet for one brief moment, we get to experience the wonders of existence, of consciousness.

A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give. ~Author unknown
Here’s a great yardstick for life, not the number of years that we rack up but the number of times we have those moments of awe that make life worth living. Be sure that as you’re living your life you are searching out moments that will take your breath away, because that’s what we’re here for, to experience joy and awe and all of the good things that life has to offer. If you don’t lose sight of this, you’ll have an amazing life experience and you’ll keep that inner youth all the days of your life.
There are some things in life that are beyond our control, and even after we do our best to make them better they still stink. At that point it’s best not to spend any more energy on them, but just to laugh it off. You have to keep your good feelings going, and not get so caught up on something that is resistant to change. This quote says that you should try to make it better, and if you’re not successful at that to simply write it off and find humor in it. This is a good way to go about it since you’ll go crazy the other way.
Much of what we see in the world is a reflection of how we feel inside. The brain is literally creating your experience moment to moment, and part of this is by top-down processes. This means that your prefrontal cortex, the newest part of your brain, which deals with your thoughts, is relaying information to your mammalian cortex, which handles emotions. These emotions then go on to inform deeper and older parts of the brain, including sensory experience and pain. This means that when we say a positive attitude can recreate your reality, it’s not just a metaphor, it’s a physiological fact!
“Here's an idea, Rosie. Why don't you just tell Alex how you feel? Why don't you just finally get all of those feelings out in the open, and clear your messed-up little head? At least then he'll know that you're not going over not because you don't care about him, but that in fact you love him, more than he knows, but that you need to stay here for Katie. Then that will put the ball in his court. He can make the decision whether to come to you or not.”
