“Even though Graham and I went back to arguing and stealing socks and hiding each other's toothbrushes in the litter box, I didn't forget that Graham didn't think I needed a best friend, because either it meant he thought I was cool enough to handle everything alone or—and this was what I hoped—it meant that he was my best friend, quietly, forever, no matter what.
“Outside, there was that predawn kind of clarity, where the momentum of living has not quite captured the day. The air was not filled with conversation or thought bubbles or laughter or sidelong glances. Everyone was sleeping, all of their ideas and hopes and hidden agendas entangled in the dream world, leaving this world clear and crisp and cold as a bottle of milk in the fridge. ”
– C.S LewisI will admit, on a Monday morning, before I have had my cup of coffee, the incessantly positive person who always seems to be “up” can be a little big annoying to my sensibilities. I am switching from weekend to work-week mindset and a little bit grumpy about it.But I think the only reason I may get grumpy in that situation is because I am a bit jealous of the abundance of positivity they are able to bring forth at 8:15 am on a monday morning.Being positive in the workplace may take a little bit extra effort. Treat it as a habit, a positive thought for the day at work. When you finish with the above section of quotes why not try some of these work quotes or these achievement quotes, both of which will hopefully give you a tiny bit more inspiration to accomplish great things in your career. And if your career is at a dead end, they may give you the inspiration to follow your passion and get a job you love, not hate.Want some more tips on doing well at your place of work? A moat can be a pretty good thing. It can be lovely. It keeps rodents away from the castle. It can have fish in it. Even fish that talk. … If you give people access, they take advantage. My phone would ring 75 times in a row. Finally, I would pick it up and say, ‘Who the hell is this?’ ‘Oh, hi! I’m calling from so-and-so’s office…’ What kind of person would ever, ever let the phone ring 75 times? And I guess that’s when I started thinking: I can do without these people. Bill Murray
When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.
