I would say laughter is the best medicine. But it’s more than that. It’s an entire regime of antibiotics and steroids. Laughter brings the swelling down on our national psyche, and then applies an antibiotic cream. You gotta keep it away from your eyes… Obviously, it’s a challenge to make light of the darkness but, um, it’s better than crying about it. Stephen Colbert
Smiling is one of the best healthy habits that you can adopt. It’s much more tangible than “positive-thinking” and is therefore easier for your body and mind to remember to do. Simply pick something that you do every day, like brushing your teeth or getting on a bus, and try and smile every single time you do it. Once you’ve made it a habit, you can bring smiling into other domains until it’s become something you naturally do all the time.
Best friends send a “check in-text” to see if you need an excuse to end your date early. They show up with seven-up and movies when you are sick, and they don’t give up shopping until you have found the perfect wedding dress. True friends hang out after your party and help you clean up and do the dishes. They show up with meals after your baby is born, and they offer to take your toddler to the park when they know you need a break.
