It does take courage to make a stand and go up against your enemies, but what happens when it’s your friends that you have to stand up to? This is when it becomes very hard indeed to go against the grain and stand up for what you believe is right. So many times young women are lured into what their group of friends is saying or doing, even when they know it’s not right. It may end up that you’re not friends with those people anymore, but you’ll make new friends that share your values.
Guess that everyone occasionally has these days when everything seems irritating and annoying and all one can hear is the phrase: “He/she must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed.” Being enthusiastic about the upcoming working day might not be easy for some people. That is why it is essential to get into the right mood starting the morning.
Here’s a success tip from someone that achieved high levels of success. She’s saying that dreaming of success won’t get you there all by itself. You have to have a dream, but you’ll stay a dreamer unless you back up your dream with work. Learn this lesson early on in your life and it will pay dividends all the time. If things aren’t working out the way you want them to it likely means you’re not putting in enough work to make them happen. Get a clear focus, a clear dream, a clear goal, and then follow up with focused work.
In addition to all these physiological benefits, and likely as a result of them, it seems that smiling may also be a significant predictor of life expectancy. In a 2010 study out of Wayne State University, researchers found that by looking at the intensity of smiles in old photographs, they were able to correlate our facial expressions with longevity. People that had bigger smiles were more likely to have lived to a greater age!
When you smile, you are certainly transmitting a special signal to those who are in receipt and to others who observe your smile. This was a signal that I used quite often in various work that I did over the years and have even tested the theory that a smile is a more welcoming sign for people to approach than if you do not smile. Byron Pulsifer, Smiles Are Sunshine For All
Every morning is a fresh beginning. Every day is the world made new. Today is a new day. Today is my world made new. I have lived all my life up to this moment, to come to this day. This moment – this day – is as good as any moment in all eternity. I shall make of this day – each moment of this day – a heaven on earth. This is my day of opportunity.Dan Custer
If you have children, or if you have ever been a child, you know that friendships can be hard, and great friendships can be hard to find. Learning to share your favorite toys, taking turns, and saying that you are sorry is all part of the process. As we navigate our way through middle school, we learn more about being a good friend. What it feels like to have a friend stick up for you in a crowd, to hold you a spot at the lunch table, and to tell you when you have something stuck in your braces. Sometimes those first best friends are with you into adulthood, and sometimes our friends change as we grow and also change. We all seek to find that real friend who will be with us through thick and thin. She tells you when you can find a more flattering pair of jeans, help you find the courage to quit a job that you hate going to, and loves you enough to tell you when the boyfriend you are chasing after, is no good for you. How lucky we are if we have found a best friend.
